5 Things Your Vacuum Is Good For Apart From Carpet Cleaning

If you want to keep your home clean, you know that it is very important to stay on top of carpet cleaning. The carpet takes up quite a large area in the rooms inside and harbours a lot of dust and other pollutants. More importantly, it can create an unfavourable environment for anyone with asthma or other issues like that. That is why carpet cleaning experts recommend vacuuming at least once a week, sometimes even more often, depending on how high the traffic in the area is.

However, apart from using your vacuum cleaner to address the dust on your carpet, you can utilise the tool to remove pollutants from various other areas in your home.

Here are a Few Examples that Vacuum Cleaner can do Apart from Carpet Cleaning:

Vacuum inside drawers

Everyone knows drawers make for a fantastic storage solution in your home. However, you must consider vacuuming them from time to time, because even though they conceal the items within, dust still finds its way there. And if you think about it, storing your belongings in a dusty confined space is the last thing you want to be doing. Drawers in the kitchen also collect crumbs and other pollutants, which can breed pests and insects. That is why you should remove all of the items from the inside and vacuum clean the area now and then. Vacuuming Blinds And Curtains

Blinds and curtains

In case you didn’t know, blinds and curtains accumulate no small amount of dust over time. And the worst part is that whenever you open the window to let some fresh air in, all of that accumulated dust can spread to other parts of the room. This makes indoor air pollution a problem to address. You can vacuum your blinds and window dressings by using the appropriate vacuum cleaner attachment. Doing so once a month ensures more of a dust-free indoor environment.

The mattress

The bed is a place you spend a lot of hours in. More importantly, that is where you spend your resting hours of the day, meaning that it needs to be clean and ensure you get a good night’s sleep. For that to happen, you should do your best to keep the area free of dust and other pollutants, which is easy with a vacuum cleaner. One great way to clean your mattress is to sprinkle baking soda on it, mixed with a few drops of essential oil to bring a pleasant smell around. Let the baking soda sit on the mattress for a few hours and then vacuum it thoroughly. Vacuuming A Feather Duster

Your other cleaning supplies

If you often resort to a broom, a feather duster or some other cleaning tool that comes in contact with dusty areas of your home, you should use the vacuum cleaner on them. A powerful vacuum cleaner will be able to remove most of the dust accumulated on brooms and feather dusters, and washing them will further restore them and make them ready for more cleaning.

Under heavy furniture

Unfortunately, when it comes to any floor area located directly underneath heavy furniture, the situation is oftentimes ‘out of sight, out of mind’. While it is true that these areas accumulate less dust and dirt compared to open areas, you should still vacuum them from time to time. Get some help to do the heavy lifting and moving of furniture and clean underneath every few months.

Vacuuming all of these areas in your home should be a habit you get into. After all, the vacuum is not only good for carpet cleaning purposes but a lot more than that.
